Fred Burton – The Ghost
By Mark L. Casey | June 4, 2008
Fred Burton is a counterterrorism expert at www.stratfor.com. A link to one of his articles has already appeared on Artful Sourcing. He has a terrific new book hitting the bookstores entitled Ghost: Confessions of a Counterterroism Agent. The first two chapters of the book have been published on the Stratfor website, and they are a great read. We link to them below.
The connection between Burton’s book and the world of sourcing is obvious when we consider the “flattening” of the world (The World Is Flat by Thomas Friedman). As Western companies move more and more of their sourcing offshore, terrorism and political stability are among the risk factors that have to be considered. It is my opinion that Ghost contributes much to our understanding of the enemies of democracy, capitalism, America, and the West in general. It provides important background to help us understand the reality of the world in which we live and transact. The book can be purchased on the Stratfor website.
